Mother's Day Checklist
Here is a checklist of to-dos to prepare for Mother's Day and also on the big day. Cards: Make Cards - If anyone is making and writing a card, remind them or yourself to get it ready in time. Sign Cards - Get everyone in the family to sign the card and date it to make it extra special. Gifts: Shop Early / Order Early Online - Every year many gift givers wait until the last minute and then scramble to get mom a gift. Even if they don't have the intention of procrastination, they often discover their favorite gift's timeline has passed. Therefore, we recommend you shop early and find a gift you like and check if there is a deadline to receive it, especially if you order online. Personalized Mothers Jewelry - The most popular gift for uniqueness. Order early to get it in time for Mother's Day. Designer Diaper Bags - A favorite of celebrities, social-elite and everyday working moms alike, the perfect gift for new moms and moms-to-be. Flowers - Order flowers a week in advance if going the online route, or go to a local store or market at least two days before to ensure you can have fresh flowers. Sometimes there could be nothing left at some stores, picked clean by late Mother's Day shoppers. Edibles / Food - Choose from chocolates, cookies, cakes, candy, fruit, and even fresh cut decorative fruit. Get these at the local bakery or market but make sure they are fresh. Ideally you will bake these on your own the day or night before the big day. Outdoor Activities: Book the Reservation - Book a reservation at least 3 weeks in advance if you are in a major city. This is especially true for popular destinations such as beach front restaurants, hilltop restaurants with a view, and other popular establishments. Buy Tickets - If you are planning on a show, then buy the tickets early, these often sell out two weeks before Mothers Day weekend such as popular musicals. Fill Up The Tank - The last thing you want is to go to a gas station and other unnecessary stops on Mother's Day. Do mom a favor and prepare everything in advance such as filling up the tank a couple days before. Check the Weather - Check the weather forecast. If it is windy or rain be prepared with umbrellas. Also consider plan B if the weather is too strong. Indoor Activities: Visit the Supermarket - If you are cooking then visit the supermarket one to two days before to make sure you have everything you need for preparation. Bring a checklist. Don't go too early vegetables and other perishables will not be as fresh. Make Reservations - If you are going out for a night of bowling, ice skating, or other indoor activities call the location ahead of time to see if you can make a reservation. If not check with them right before you go to make sure there is space. You don't want to visit an overcrowded venue. Final Preparation Check or Call Each Member - Check with each member of the family and/ or friends who will be attending the celebration to make sure you stick to schedule. Make sure all your kids finish their homework and everyone else is ready as well. The last thing you want is stress over incomplete work. Loaded Camera - Make sure you have plenty of film or digital chip space for your camera to capture the special day.
